Fly Fishing Vista Patagonia Lodge – Coyhaique, Chile
March is an incredible time to experience fly fishing in Coyhaique, Chile, and Vista Patagonia Lodge puts you right in the heart of it. With six full days of guided fishing, you’ll explore the incredible variety of Patagonia—from wild freestone rivers and intimate spring creeks to crystal-clear lakes holding some of the region’s largest brown and rainbow trout. March offers excellent terrestrial and streamer fishing, along with opportunities for technical dry-fly fishing on smaller waters. Each day is selected around current conditions and the group’s preferences, giving you the chance to experience a different piece of Patagonia every day. After a full day on the water, return to the lodge for great food, Chilean hospitality, and stories around the bar. It’s more than a fishing trip—it’s a true Patagonian adventure.

Accommodations at Vista Patagonia Lodge
After a full day exploring the rivers and streams of Chilean Patagonia, Vista Patagonia Lodge offers a comfortable and modern place to relax and recharge. The lodge features just four private guest rooms, creating an intimate atmosphere where every guest receives personal attention. Each room has two full-length beds with premium mattresses and linens, a private en-suite bathroom, private deck, heating, storage, rod racks, coffee maker, and Wi-Fi. Large windows provide beautiful views of the surrounding Andes and McKay Mountain.
The lodge itself is designed to feel more like a welcoming Patagonian home than a traditional fishing lodge. Guests can unwind in the cozy den beside the wood-burning stove, enjoy a drink at the bar, or gather around the communal table for chef-prepared Chilean cuisine and stories from the day's fishing. Your host works closely with the lodge staff to coordinate transfers, assign guides, manage daily logistics, and ensure expectations are met on and off the water. If any challenges arise, your host is there to troubleshoot and keep everything on track.
Your Flyquest host also collaborates with the lodge’s head guide to pair anglers and guides effectively, mentor as needed, and make group-level decisions that benefit all Flyquest guests. Think of them as your on-site trip leader—making sure everyone is where they need to be, when they need to be there, so you can focus on fishing.

We recommend booking your international flights through Delta Air Lines. Your domestic connection within Chile is operated by LATAM, which is a Delta partner, making baggage transfers seamless and hassle-free.
Overnight flights from the United States to Santiago, Chile (SCL) are available on Delta, American Airlines, and LATAM. Once in Santiago, you’ll connect on a LATAM 737 jet to Balmaceda Airport (BBA), located approximately three hours south of the capital.
Upon arrival in Balmaceda, a lodge representative will meet you at the airport and provide a scenic 45-minute transfer to the Lodge.

Day 1 | Saturday
Depart your home airport and begin travel to Santiago, Chile. Typically travelers fly to one of the following major hub cities - New York, Atlanta, Miami, Houston, Dallas, or Los Angeles - to connect with a direct overnight international flight to Santiago.
Day 2 | Sunday
Arrive to Santiago, Chile in the morning and take a connecting flight to Balmaceda/Coyhaique in central Patagonia. Upon arrival to Patagonia, you will be met by a member of the Vista Patagonia Lodge at the airport who will transfer you 45 minutes to the lodge. At the lodge you will be greeted with a fresh Pisco Sour followed by a tour of the lodge facilities and program orientation.
Days 3-5 | Monday- Saturday
The Coyhaique region of Chilean Patagonia offers an incredible variety of fly-fishing water, all within reach of Vista Patagonia Lodge. Guests can fish legendary rivers such as the Simpson, Mañihuales, Aysén, Paloma, Ñirehuao, and Emperador Guillermo, with opportunities to wade intimate streams or float larger rivers in search of wild brown and rainbow trout.
The lakes are equally impressive and can produce some of the largest trout of the trip. Los Juncos, Cerro Castillo, Elizalde, and Lago Frío offer sight-fishing opportunities along shallow shorelines, weed beds, and reed lines. In March, the region can offer excellent dry-fly fishing, with mayfly activity on the Simpson and Lago Frío, grasshopper fishing on Ñirehuao, and evening caddis hatches on Lago Póllux.
That's what makes fishing with Vista Patagonia so special—you aren't fishing the same water every day. Your guides can choose the river, lake, or spring creek that best fits the weather, water conditions, and fishing opportunities that day.
Day 9 | Sunday
After a leisurely breakfast you will have time to pack your bags and transfer 45 minutes to the Balmaceda/Coyhaique airport in time to check-in for your return flight to Santiago. Once you arrive to Santiago, check in for your international return flight home.

We recognize that plans can change, and we strive to offer flexibility while keeping our hosted trips organized and seamless. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your reservation, with the remaining balance due 90 days prior to departure. For bookings made within 90 days of departure, full payment is required at the time of booking.
In the event you need to cancel, we will make every reasonable effort to refill your spot. If we are successful, you will receive a refund of your payments, less a $100 administrative fee. If your plans change more than 90 days before departure, you may also transfer your booking to a future trip date for a $100 administrative fee, subject to availability.
Our priority is delivering an exceptional, stress-free experience, and we’ll do everything we can to support you if your plans need to be adjusted.

Flyquest Adventures and the destination outfitter are not responsible for lost fishing days or trip interruptions caused by flight delays or cancellations, illness, injury, weather, or other unforeseen circumstances. Flyquest Adventures reserves the right to adjust itineraries as necessary, and any additional costs resulting from such changes are the responsibility of the guest.
Guests are responsible for any expenses related to delays, disruptions, or situations beyond the control of Flyquest Adventures and the destination outfitter. Lost or delayed baggage, fishing equipment, rods, and personal belongings are also the responsibility of the guest.
By submitting an initial payment, guests acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to these terms and conditions.
